Different Types of Massage

At Resonance, we offer a variety of massage techniques to cater to different needs, whether you’re seeking relaxation, injury relief, or reduced tension. Our therapists are skilled in multiple massage methods and customize each session to provide the best possible experience for our clients.

Here are some of the most common types of massage and their benefits.

Swedish

This massage modality provides relaxation, relieves tension, and improves circulation. With its use of long sweeping motions, Swedish massage is generally considered more gentle than deep tissue massage.

Deep tissue

As the name implies, deep tissue massage uses deeper, firmer strokes to release muscle tension and tight connective tissue. It is effective for treating specific injuries, fibromyalgia, and sciatica.

Sports massage

Designed for athletes, sports massage supports all phases of training: before, during, and after. It aims to enhance performance, increase flexibility, and reduce the risk of injuries.

Trigger point therapy

Trigger points are pressure-sensitive areas in muscles that can cause pain and restrict blood flow. Trigger point therapy applies direct pressure to these points for 30–60 seconds, followed by gentle strokes to alleviate inflammation and discomfort.

Reflexology

Reflexology targets stress, anxiety, and pain by applying gentle pressure to specific points on the hands, feet, and ears. This technique is based on the theory that these points are connected to various body systems and organs and can promote overall well-being.

Hot stone massage

Using the heat and weight of warm stones, this massage relaxes and soothes muscles, promotes good sleep, reduces stress, and alleviates pain.

Perinatal

Perinatal massage is tailored for pregnant individuals and those who have given birth within the past year. It focuses on pain relief, improved sleep, faster labor, and decreased feelings of depression.

At Resonance, you don’t need to decide on a specific massage type in advance. Simply book our Classic or Signature massage, and our therapists will tailor the session to your needs. For hot stone or perinatal massages, please select these options when booking, as they require additional preparation, such as warming the stones or ensuring the availability of supportive items for perinatal care.
